A bit about Welington's Design Origin
The original inspiration for Welington was the Death Knight Class from the game World of Warcraft I never played the game myself but during a family trip down to South Australia one of my step Uncles showed me World of Warcraft he let me play a bit and make my own character and during the creation process I found the Death Knight Class.
Being in my early teens this was the coolest class ever, however my Uncle informed me that the class put you at max level and wasn't suitable for a new player “Ahhh that's nor really for a new player probably good to pick the others sorry”
For those who care I ended up picking rogue gnome.
From there I did some research on the death knight. Wrath of the litch king was the latest expansion to World of Warcraft at that time. I found trailers and art of the litch king and much more rememberable was his undead dragon, that thing was the coolest thing in my world at the time. I had even named my first YouTube account after it. to clarify I did not know the dragons true name I simply knew it had an affinity with ice and was undead.
These few core design ideas slowly began to piece together as a character idea. someone with heavy armour, a big sword, affinity with ice and death, either had a dragon or could turn into a dragon.
and so with my first digital artwork of her Welington was official. Her name is quite special to me, I often never really looked for name inspiration, I was always very good at coming up with names but for her I looked up city names in England where my Grandfather was born. I found the city of Wellington this sounded like the perfect name, I simply removed one of the 'L's and it was her name from that point forward.
Welington's Design and Why
Why white hair? why a sword? why massive boobs? a lot of these questions can be answered with Because that's what I wanted.
Form over function is normally what dictates my design choices especially when I was younger. In my adult years I would defiantly consider myself more mindful of how a design functions practically however its still a mere consideration and not a rule. A big part of this change is the introduction of D&D into my life, being able to play the characters I create and have them interact with others has reshaped a lot of my thought processes.
Welington's colour pallet reflects her affinities, ice, death, necromancy, knight, leader, all these things have shaped her basic look and colours.
Welington in Felwind
Welington has managed, I feel a pretty lucky role in the world of Felwind. She has managed to be leader of an entire nation. while this is relatively easy to accomplish within my own head cannon, to manage it in someone else's is quite extraordinary. I am forever thankfully that Welington was given this opportunity and while I haven't made the best decisions I am working my hardest with the creator of Felwind to play the part as best as Welington can.
Welington Currently
At the moment Welington in the story Welington has been betrayed by some of her closest advisors and killed out in the blizzard mountains of Oxtrad, her soul was unable to return to one of her remaining clones, instead it was stolen away by a necromancer and placed in a body much like her elfish form. the Necromancer being a stalker of sorts, infatuated with the Queen decided to make his own, little to anyone's knowledge had he managed to capture the True Queen's soul.
Without any of her previous memories Welington has accompanied a group of adventures in search of power and wealth. knowing little else on what to do.
