-People from a small village stumbled upon a tiny tree completly made of metal.  This curiosity drove the villagers to pull the tree from the ground.  Finding the trees roots had grown around a gigantic Amythyst , try as they might they could not Seperate the Amythest from the tree and so insted placed it in the center of thier small town.
-One day a merchant passing through offered enough gold to buy the tree from the village.
