The ‘Gnomish’ Language
Gnomish is a language that most Gnomes will often reference however in reality their language is only a few phrases different to Dwarfish.
It is considered widely as just a slightly twisted dialect of Dwarfish like how different countries speak Common with slightly different slang or phrases. This is partially why Gnomes and Dwarves mingle so well.

Coming of Gnome Age
Much like other long lived species, Gnomes are not considered 'Mature' Until their first century. Until that point they are treated like any youth. These one hundred (100) years are often spent learning and developing their skills under the teachings of a master or masters. Once a Gnome has come of age they are expected to have learned all they need to be able to further their craft or Knowledge alone.
A Gnome leaving their home or community before they come of age is taboo. and only happens when a dramatic event has happened such as an outside force or serious/malicious acts of the individual in question. You normally won't find a young Gnome wandering around the world of Felwind and if you do then there is sure to be a dramatic story behind it.
However this is all a rarity. Even after coming of age most Gnomes never leave home spending their entire life honing their skills and passing those skills onto the next generation.

Gnomish Curiosity
Despite their tight-nit sense of community, When it comes to acts of the heart Gnomes are rather adventurous indeed. Possibly due to their natural curious behaviour Gnomes are commonly known to seek lovers and partners outside their own species. This is typically why Gnome communities are close by others such as Dwarves, Elves, Goliaths and other interesting species.
Gnome genetics are rather stubborn so you won't ever see a half-breed with a Gnome, its either one or the other.
Aside from this Gnomes are not known to be any more loyal or Disloyal than other species. You will find many who are partners for life and many who play with peoples emotions like a fiddle.

Gnome Sub Species

Rock Gnome

Rock Gnomes are the most common found in Felwind, As their name suggests they tend to form Communities in or around rocky regions, such as mountains and chasms. When you think of a Gnome’s tinkering habit these are the Gnomes you picture. With a culture of mechanical knowledge and pushing the advancement of technology, many aspiring inventors seek out a Rock Gnome’s wisdom.
In Felwind they are known to work with Dwarves, offering their advancements of tools and digging equipment in exchange for money and resources. Which is normally used to expand the Gnome’s research further.

Forrest Gnomes

Gnomes who have become more in-tune with nature. Rather than pushing the industrial age they live among the calm natural order. One of the only species who are on good terms with very xenophobic Wood Elves, You will often find small communities living nearby Wood Elf settlements, Typically at ground level. Sometimes right beneath the tree top houses of the Wood Elves. Forrest Gnomes offer outsider knowledge to Wood Elf communities that their culture is severely limited on. In exchange the wood elves don't attack on sight. The exact details of these two species co-existing is not well known.

Deep Gnomes

Gnomes who have lived generations down in the depths of the Underdark.
Their time in these lands have given them tinge of purple complexation and often pure white eyes.
It can be said that Deep Gnomes are a bit more angry than above ground counterparts. The hardships of the Underdark have shaped their culture and community to be far more serious and intimidating. But once you have proven yourself to the Deep Gnomes they will consider you one of their own and you will find that the classic Gnome hospitality is not completely forgotten amongst Deep Gnomes.
History says that Deep Gnomes begin when Ilithids first brought Gnomes down into the Underdark as prisoners and test subjects. This explains their resistance against psionics. Today Deem Gnomes can be found all over the place in the Underdark. Building sturdy cities in the cavern walls and have a long standing trade pact with the Ancient Copper Dragon Brigznier to fuel their inventions and run their economy.

Scribe Gnomes

Very Rare Gnomes more magically attuned than most. Said to be blessed by the New God Serpent Empress their culture revolves around the records of history and the service to Fate’s Weave.
The Ancient Library has had many owners over history and when it is passed on, so is the loyalty of the Scribe Gnomes. Their loyalty and purpose tied directly to the Fate’s Weave Library and so to the God that lays claim to its domain.

Red-Cap Gnomes

Vile creatures of Fey Origins. Red-Cap Gnomes are rather evil and horrid people to most other living people aside from those more powerful. More lanky than a typical gnome with dark eyes and mushrooms growing from their head.
