Introduction
“Looks like business is picking up, huh?” A man covered in bandages broke the silence, his voice still raspy from the cut running along his neck. He looked over at the tall figure tending another man a couple beds down. Though his eyes were not fully healed, he could make out the distinct shape of a snail shell on the figure's back.
“Ah, you're up! Try not to speak too much, you were lucky the cut was shallow, but if opens and gets infected I won't be able to treat you before it spreads to your eyes again. At that point I'm not sure magic will be able to restore your eyesight.” Though his face was covered by a leather mask, his voice still filled the room and called for some level of respect. Quickly, he hurried from the person he was tending to towards the now awoken man. as he moved the cloth covering the man's body using a black cane with green engravings, carefully examining his skin and wounds to check for any diseases or infections, he spoke again. “My name is Bon, I'm a medic and have been placed in charge of this clinic.”
“Good to meet you, no worries though, I already had a look myself. Looks like I didn't contract the blight again” Looking over the few uncovered faces around him he realized he should count himself lucky. Their eyes were covered with puss, reddened by the blood spilling from their lacrimal gland. “Hey, are you sure I'm safe being so close to them? I thought Eye Blight could spread through air.”
“You should be fine if you stop talking. I've stopped its spread through air and cured you of it, but it can still spread into your open wounds” Bon spread his arm and revealed the inside of his leather coat. It contained various needles and vials, many of which were empty as they had been used in order to prevent further spread of the blight.
“Doc, where am I? Last I remember we were fighting undead in the ruins. I'm not even sure how all these fellas got Eye Blight ”
“Currently you are at a M.M.A.P clinic. I'm trying to filter out those who may have some hope from the ones that are hopeless and get the blight under control. Lucky for you, Tomorrow you'll be moved to another clinic were they can better treat your wounds. Don't know nothing about your ruins though. Don't know anything about your undead either” Bon stopped to think for a second, as if something it never considered had suddenly crossed its mind. “Do you think they were the reason for its spread?”
“I uh… I don't know doc. Shouldn't you be, you know, tending to these other people?”
Bon seemed to momentarily snap back from its thoughts. “Ah, yes, maybe, most of them are too far gone but I should double check nonetheless. Pity that I wasn't present at your expedition. I am rather curious to see how the blight spreads in the battlefield”“
The man looked at Bon perplexed. ”You seem rather interested in it, don't you?“ There was a slight accusation in his voice.
”As a matter of fact I am! Never knew what it was about sickness and poisons that interested me. I simply can't help but feel fascinated by them! I try to lend a hand to those who need it for this stuff and I truly enjoy studying it.“ Bon didn't seem to have picked up on the man's tone. For someone so keen on medical detail, he seemed to fall short when it came to social cues. ”Though the blight's effects on you and these people is not desirable, the inner workings of the blight are truly remarkable.“
As the man went to answer he realized what Bon said about his wounds opening up was true, and out of fear of getting reinfected decided against further arguing with him.
”Well, I better get going. Lots of other areas at this clinic that need me. Make sure you do good deeds in your life! Or don't. It's not my problem. At least try to live a life that will have some positive impact on others. We all die someday, and our choices always affect our final destination.“
C11: Mysteries of Fate
An old letter sent to Bon some weeks ago. Many sentences have been removed in order to conceal sensitive information.
“Bon, You will be joining the expedition to the old world, Though you are less than a year into your service to the guild your unique self has helped you rise through the ranks quickly [REDACTED],though You are one of our least experienced members of [REDACTED] we expect no less excellent work. You are to assist with the construction of the stronghold but you will [REDACTED]. I am sure i don't have to stress that this must [REDACTED]. If [REDACTED] then we will have to take measures and you will be [REDACTED]. However I am sure after a few years once you [REDACTED] you may reveal your private intentions without fear of punishment so long as [REDACTED]. you will be gifted with a few boons before your travel and of course [REDACTED] authority.”
Character details
Appearance + personality
Clothes: classic plague doctor attire. Leather jacket, hat, mask, cane, and longsword carried in his waist. Jacket and other body garments have been altered to not impede the snail shell in his back, as he is proud of it.
Physical: Tall. Off color olive green-ish leathery skin. Well physically built, tough not incredibly muscular. Actual age not known but appears to be a senior. Gray, unkept beard. A snail shell grows from his back, not many scratches can be seen. White in color, with coral streaks going through it. He seems to take pride in its appearance and does not attempt to hide it, but instead bring attention to it and decorated it for special occasions.
Personality: not “good” by definition, nor “bad”. He is driven by self interest and craving for knowledge/mentally challenging topics. He has no impulse to do “good” or “evil” acts but understands that there are lines that must be drawn for the sake of maintaining society. His interests for poison and disease is not because of its effects or applications, but because the complexity behind them intrigues him. He views them as puzzles and wants to have mastery over them.
Overtime he will gain other interests and show a similar level of interest in them.
